Job Title: Director of Catering Operations
Location: San Diego, CA
Overview:
Our San Diego campus is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented leader to head our catering operations. In this role, you will drive the planning and execution of events, ensuring seamless service and exceptional guest experiences. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to manage event logistics, staff scheduling, and cost control, while upholding high standards of health, safety, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership & Event Planning:
- Oversee all aspects of catering operations, from initial planning to on-site execution.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, protocols, and best practices to ensure flawless event delivery.
- Client & Team Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients, understanding their vision and ensuring tailored event execution.
- Collaborate with culinary, service, and event planning teams to coordinate logistics and achieve a cohesive guest experience.
- Team Management & Development:
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and training for catering events to ensure optimal performance.
- Mentor and lead your team to foster a high-performance culture and continuous improvement.
- Budgetary & Cost Control:
- Oversee budget preparation and expense monitoring for catering operations.
- Implement cost control measures and analyze financial data to optimize profitability without compromising service quality.
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all catering activities comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Maintain rigorous quality assurance standards to consistently deliver safe and high-quality services.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience & Expertise:
- Proven background in catering management or large-scale food service operations, preferably within a dynamic campus or high-volume environment.
- Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership and team development abilities with experience managing diverse teams in a fast-paced setting.
- Operational Excellence:
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the capability to manage multiple events simultaneously while ensuring detail-oriented execution.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking:
- Ability to develop strategic operational plans, manage budgets, and implement innovative process improvements.
- Communication & Client Focus:
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Local Insight:
- Familiarity with the San Diego market and regional event trends is a plus.

Lucas Andrews has over 15 years of experience in restaurant operations and another 5 of that being in recruiting and onboarding and leadership experience. During high school, Lucas began his career as a busser and moved up the ranks and was a part of the managing team within three years while going to college. Lucas had held many different management positions before transitioning into recruitment.
He grew up in a suburb of Roseville in Northern California, then moved to Southern California to pursue his successful restaurant management career. Lucas’s’ ability to see talent and passion for others makes him an exceptional recruiter.
Lucas is a devoted family man and spends most of his free time with his wife Ashley, and his two sons – Callum and Liam, and daughter Presley. He enjoys football, boating, basketball, hiking and fantasy sports!
