Title of Position – General Manager

Job Description: The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant including sales, fiscal operations, accounting, recruitment, and maintenance of the building and equipment. The General Restaurant Manager will be responsible for managing the revenue with the goal being to exceed budget and preserve cost-effectiveness and profitability in agreement with company policies. The General Manager will be required to prepare monthly reports for the corporate office and should have the ability to follow corporate office financial procedures, including but not restricted to;

handling cash, credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and all other financial transactions.  A large part of being a good leader and better General Manager is the ability to build an outstanding team around you, hiring, mentoring, and guiding the team to achieve success both personally and professionally.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines
  • Directs overall activities and performance of hourly staff
  • Handles verbal and written guest complaints immediately
  • Monitors and maintains adequate food and beverage inventories
  • Teaches and enforces alcohol awareness. Builds a positive relationship with local authorities by seeking their assistance in alcohol related issues
  • Assures the compliance with the local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Ensures timely product preparation and presentation meets company standards. Ensures product preparation meets sales volume by use of forecasting tools
  • Ensures maintenance of restaurant cleanliness and sanitation according to company guidelines and government standards
  • Completes daily reports and documents on a timely basis
  • Schedules staffing in an effective manner ensuring sales volume and service levels
  • Ensures the adherence of all cash handling procedures
  • Directs hiring, assignment, training, motivation, evaluation, promotions, and discipline of restaurant personnel
  • Maintains effective safety and security programs according to company policy and government
  • Communicates effectively with other management staff
  • Keeps up to date with all relative computer application, forms, and spreadsheets
  • Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities

 

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of management and/or leadership experience required (service industry preferred)
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license
  • Must provide proof upon hire of legal status to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background check and MVR check
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain deadlines and prioritize while running an effective shift
  • Must perform the duties on site, in accordance with customary scheduling requirements for this position (including ability to work many different shifts)
  • Standing and walking for long periods without a break
  • Work at a fast pace and may involve exposure to noise, heat, cold or other elements
  • May be required to transfer from one location to another as business needs dictate
  • Requires bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting (up to 25 pounds, as necessary)
  • Ability to travel to other restaurants, meeting venues, etc.
