Job Summary: Restaurant General Manager – Sedona, AZ

The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently by managing the daily operations and financial performance. Lead team members and managers by providing hands-on leadership and clear direction to provide an excellent guest experience that exceeds mutual expectations. The GM has expert knowledge of restaurant operations, sanitation, and safety standards, as well as strong financial acumen to manage budgets, analyze P&L statements, and control inventory. The GM is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, food quality, and guest satisfaction, while driving sales, motivating and leading team members, and delegating multiple tasks.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Restaurant General Manager – Sedona, AZ

  • Foster a motivating and positive environment that enhances and builds on the culture.
  • Cross-functional leader, and use this skill set to train and develop managers.
  • Manage team member relations issues by coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure team members and managers adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Manage team members' performance, including providing regular performance feedback, development plans or counseling notices, as well as partnering with Human Resources on final termination requests when necessary.
  • Ensure regular weekly management meetings and daily shift meetings are held to communicate company updates regarding operations, employee topics, training, education related to changes or new processes, product or equipment introductions.
  • Continuously maintain and build sales and achieve or exceed restaurant goals according to budget.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read budgets and P&L Statements and know what the required actions are to ensure goals are met
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Prime Cost and how F&B product mix affects prime cost.
  • Manage Food, Beverage, and Controllable expenses through proper ordering and inventory of Packaging, Seafood, Meat, Produce, Drinks, Wine & Beer, Uniforms, Gift Cards, Small-wares, China, Equipment, etc.
  • Oversee the daily cash accounting and tip distribution to ensure accuracy; investigate any shortages/overages and report discrepancies to the Controller/CFO.
  • Produce bi-weekly schedules for all departments, FOH/BOH, taking into account business volumes, seasonality, employee time off requests, etc. Monitor attendance/tardiness accordingly.
  • Ensure seamless communications and operations between FOH and BOH.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Restaurant General Manager – Sedona, AZ

  • Bachelors/Associates Degree in Hospitality, Restaurant Management, or Culinary or equivalent education and work experience; preferably in a high-volume fast-paced restaurant.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience as a General Manager; preferably in a fine dining, full-service restaurant.
  • Proven ability to hire, train and develop team members.
  • Capable of driving sales and guest service initiatives by motivating and leading team members.
  • Ability to understand and analyze financial profit and loss statements, food cost, inventory, and labor planning.
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on restaurant needs.
