Join one of New England's finest clubs on Cape Cod as a Sous Chef and play a crucial role in delivering outstanding dining experiences. In this leadership position, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to plan, prepare, and execute high-quality menus that enhance member and guest satisfaction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Menu Development: Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to develop creative, seasonally-inspired menus.
- Supervision and Coordination: Oversee kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations.
- Training and Mentoring: Train and mentor kitchen personnel to promote teamwork and professional growth.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs.
- Food Preparation and Presentation: Ensure high culinary standards in food preparation and presentation.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Leadership: Assume responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Kitchen Environment: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to continuously enhance dining offerings.
- Event Participation: Contribute to special events, catering functions, and themed dinners as required.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-end restaurant or country club setting.
- Culinary degree or equivalent culinary arts education.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Exceptional culinary skills with a passion for creating memorable dishes.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and tools.
- Creative and innovative approach to menu development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a private club or similar environment.
- Knowledge of diverse culinary styles and trends.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Requires standing for extended periods.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be necessary.

Eric Johnson, CCM is a private club specialist with more than two decades of experience in private clubs and hospitality management. Eric specializes in building successful teams to provide unique experiences. He is excited to bring his private club experience and knowledge to his new position as Executive Hospitality Recruiter with Gecko Hospitality, specializing in private club recruitment in the Northeast, USA.
Eric’s most recent position was as the Club Manager at the Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY and earlier as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer at Skaneateles Country Club in Skaneateles, NY. Eric is a native of Michigan, a graduate of Purdue University School of Hospitality, and began his professional management career with KemperSports Management, with whom he held various food and beverage leadership positions at clubs in Chicago, Maryland, and Colorado.
Eric resides in Western New York with his wife and three children and enjoys spending his free time reading, golfing and exploring the outdoors.
