Sous Chef Weekdays - No weekends or nights


We are seeking a talented and creative Sous Chef to join our team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our culinary operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef with menu planning and development
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food safety procedures
  • Prepare high-quality dishes that meet our guests' expectations
  • Ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation across all menu items
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment

Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Keith Josselyn is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry, bringing more than two decades of experience to Gecko Hospitality. Keith was the Operations Support Manager at Laughing Planet Café in Oregon, and he was been instrumental in managing operations, recruiting, training, and opening new stores. His broad range of duties included meeting financial goals, hiring and training staff, ensuring store maintenance, and providing superior guest service.

His community outreach efforts, such as fundraising for local schools and non-profits, special events, and donations, show his commitment to the local communities where the stores are located. Moreover, Keith assisted in culinary aspects, including recipe development and implementation across the company's 17 stores.

Before joining Laughing Planet Café, Keith was the General Manager at the first flagship Native Foods Café in Oregon. Prior to this Keith worked for Aramark Corporation as the Food Service Director for a large account in the Pacific North West and as Executive Chef for the Portland Market. He was responsible for meeting the financial, service, and client expectations, along with full culinary, accounting, guest services, vending, and operational responsibilities. Keith continued his tenure at Aramark as an Executive Chef for the Portland Market and provided culinary support for the West region. He was responsible for meeting aggressive financial goals, ensuring a safe and sanitary workplace, and assisting with culinary operations for five Portland accounts.

Earlier in his career, Keith was the Chef, Owner, and Managing Partner of an Italian concept. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into running a restaurant business.

His community outreach efforts, such as fundraising for local schools and non-profits, special events, and donations, show his commitment to the local communities where the stores are located. Moreover, Keith assisted in culinary aspects, including recipe development and implementation across the Northwest.
